This Annapurna traverse trek is one of the top destinations in world and is based in Nepal. This trek offers grand views of the three highest mountain range, Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Manasalu. They are over 8000 meters in height and include ranges of snow capped trekking peaks over 6000m. The trail follows the Marshyangdi valley all the way to its source, the glacial lake in Manang. You will trek through rural terraced farm villages, sub-tropic climate, arctic landscape, rain forest and finally to the alpine timbers. After crossing the Throng La we have scenic deserts and famous pilgrimage Muktinath temple. Further down hill walk in the holy river bank and enjoy with apple garden in the Marpha. The trail leads us to a hot spring for a relaxing bath via a deep gorge followed by a climb up to pun hill for a panoramic viewpoint passing through the rhododendron forest. This trek may have chances to touch with a wide range of diversified cultures. Most of the tribal inhabitants are Gurungs, Magars and Thakalis. The higher region is inhabited by a Buddhist Tibetan society as the lower part is inhabited by a Hindu society with a mixed culture. The higher mountains and attractive glacier lakes dominate over the higher pass Throng La (5,416m/17765 ft) which carries its own characteristic in this area. Itinerary

Day 1Arrival day in Kathmandu(1,300m/4,264 ft).

Namaste & welcome to Himalayan Planet of Nepal. While you land at the Tribhuvan international airport, an Airborne Adventures representative will welcome you with your name and assist in transferring you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Then it is time to get refreshed, bring you to the head office and brief you about the program and evening. Then we will pick up you for a welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurants in the area with a cultural program in the heart of Kathmandu and overnight at Hotel. (Welcome dinner & deluxe hotel accommodation included)

Day 2A Guided sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley.

After your breakfast, you will head on to our guided day trip to a world heritage site in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. We will take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrines of the Shiva temples on the subcontinent which is a place thousand of devotees. Saddhus (holy men/Baba) can be seen cremating bodies most of the time in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take time to explore the surrounding area and visit Boudhanath stupa another pilgrimage center which is the most popular and important place for Buddhists. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise. After visiting Boudhanath stupa we’ll drive to the City of Devotees (Bhaktapur). This traditional and traffic-free town is the third biggest town in the Valley. We’ll explore the medieval like squares, courtyards, and temples of this vibrant town. After a stop for lunch at a restaurant in Bhaktapur, it’s time to drive back to Kathmandu and meet up with your travel consultant & fellows to prepare for the next day and overnight at the hotel. Alternatively, the same group may have the option to choose the same 3 sightseeing places inside Kathmandu valley instead of these given place.

Day 3Drive to Besisahar (830m/2,723ft).

This morning we leave Kathmandu for our long trek to Annapurna. Drive-by local bus to Besisahar through the scenic countryside and river view. This is an interesting drive through the foothills of the Himalaya. En-route to Pokhara, our route diverts from the town village of Dumre towards north to Besishahar. On arriving Besishahar enter your permit number and rest at the hotel. This is a big town and district headquarters of the Lamjung, explore the surrounding area and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4Besisahar to Bahundanda (1,310m/4,298ft).

Today, we begin our walk from Besishahar with a fine view of Hiunchuli and peak 29 (Ngadi Chuli) then crossing some local wooden & bamboo bridges until we reach Bhulbhule. It then continues to Ngadi village for lunch passing through the waterfall and the riverbank before reaching Bahundanda to stay overnight. This is a nice village on top of a hill and you may have the chance to explore in the evening time to a local village and around the school area

Day 5Bahundanda to Chamje (1,410m/4,626ft).

After breakfast, the trek descends to Syange village crossing fields and local villages. A short downhill walk brings you to Syange village after crossing a long suspension bridge, and our trek continues gradually uphill from the river and the last steep climb to get to Jagat for lunch stop. From here an hour further walk on the rocky path you will see a long scenic waterfall across the river and finally brings you at Chamje for an overnight stop. You can visit around the small villages but nothing too important for good view.

Day 6Chamje to Dharapani (1,960m/6,430ft).

From Chamje a short walk brings to a suspension bridge over the raging Marshyangdi river, after crossing the bridge it’s another steep climb for another 2-3 hours till Tal, the village is situated on the gorge-valley by the side of the river Marshyangdi and decorated with beautiful waterfall & sandy spread river. Further, the trek follows upstream up to the Dharapani, which is through the rocky trails and crossing few suspension bridges and small teashops bring you at quite a large village at Dharapani for the overnight at hotel.

Day 7 Dharapani to Chame (2,710m/8,891ft).

Here we continue our trek further to Chame. From here the vegetation, people and the landscapes change and the air will get cooler. The trail then climbs through pine forests to Bagarchhap, the first village on the trek with typical Tibetan architecture. After a pleasant walk to Bagarchhap, the altitude slowly gains as we come at Danaque and to the alpine region passing through farm, orchards and beautiful pine forest with views of towering peaks of Lamjung and Annapurna II, the trail follows the river Marshyangdi upstream passing by the villages of Latamanang and Koto before further half an hour brings you at Chame for overnight at the hotel. This is the headquarters of the Manang district with a grand view of Annapurna II.

Day 8Chame to Pisang (3,700m/12,139ft).

The trail will lead from the other side of the river on the northern bank and passes through pine woods and small villages with few ups and downs till you reach the orchard village of Bhartang for apple garden. We continue on the gradual path up to a bridge, from the bridge a short steep climb through the pine forest brings you at the top of the ridge of Dhukur Pokhari for the lunch. After walking out of the treeline a great view of Pisang peak will appear in the north and the Chulu peak can be seen with Pisang village below you, from this top there will be a gentle descent of one hour until the trail brings you to windswept village of Pisang for overnight. Evening visit upper Pisang for the Tibetan style of houses and monastery with a panoramic view of the Annapurna range and valley.

Day 9Pisang to Manang (3,500m/11,482ft).

The trek starts with a pleasant walk through a pine forest with scenic views. The walk climbs gently up for half an hour until it reaches the top here we stop at a ridge to get our first view of the Manang valley, This grand spot offers a spectacular view of the valleys, Humde village with its short air-strip and great peaks of Gangapurna, Annapurna II, III, Tilicho and on the right Chulu east, on the back Pisang peak. The walk gently moves forward to Humde and a pleasant walk up to the Braga village for traditionally built Tibetan style houses. If possible you may visit the monastery, it has an outstanding display of statues, thankas and religious manuscripts. From here it is only an hour walk to Manang for the overnight.

Day 10Acclimatization day at Manang (3,500m/11,482ft).

Today is full of rest for acclimatization and the possibility to explore Manang. The village of about 500 flat-roofed houses in the picturesque set amongst some spectacular scenery -Annapurna II, Annapurna III (7,555 meters), Gangapurna (7,454 meters) to the South – Tilicho (7,132 meters) and the Grand Barrier to the West – Chulu West (6,583 meters) and Chulu East (6,059 meters) to the North. After explore and relaxing day at Manang, visit Himalayan Rescue Association and if needed go for a movie show.

Day 11Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110m/13,484ft).

After a wonderful time at Manang, the trail leads to a slow climb up for an hour to the Tenki Manang for a close view of the Annapurna, Gangapurna and Tilicho peak. The track gently winds up offering inspiring views through terrain with juniper bushes as the only surviving vegetation around this region and will brings you at Yak-Kharka for the overnight.

Day 12Yak Kharka to Throng Phedi (4,400m/14,432).

We start our trek at a slow pace to get to Phedi. We still have some amazing views of mountains and landscapes. After an hour the walk reaches Ledar and continues to climb along the east bank of the Jorsang Khola, then descends and crosses the stream on a wooden bridge to get a small tea shop. We stop for wonderful view and tea breaks. Then we follow a narrow path across a high, unstable slope before heading to Thorong Phedi for the overnight. Phedi, which means ‘foot of the hill’, is a common Nepali name for any settlement at the bottom of a long climb.

Day 13Throng Phedi to Throng La (5,416m/17,765 ft) to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft).

Today is the longest and hardest day of the whole trip. We start our walk early in the morning with a packed lunch and the trail becomes steepest initially and reaches high camp. Walk on your own pace viewing the sunrise and a glimpse of the mountains. We continuing walking to the top 3-4 hrs to the Throng top with a great feeling of victory. Here we take a short break for picturesque scenery and then down to the Mustang part of mountains and the Kaligandaki valley far below to the West. Finally, we made to Muktinath after 7-8 hrs long walk and overnight at lodge.

Day 14Muktinath to Kagbeni 2,800m/4240ft).

Today, we wake up early to the divine sounds of temple bells and visit the famous pilgrimage center to the Muktinath Temple area. After breakfast, it is an easy trek down to Kagbeni. The trail descends through a dramatic, arid landscape all the way to Kagbeni. To reach Kagbeni one must travel on either side of the Kaligandaki River. The left fork continues up the river to Kagbeni. Later in the afternoon you can visit a seven hundred-year-old monastery and visit the small alleys in a village then overnight at Hotel.

Day 15Kagbeni to Marpha 2,670m/8811ft).

After a few hours walking from Kagbeni, one reaches Jomsom, a large town and the headquarters of the Mustang region. It has an airstrip just above the Kaligandaki River and is also a major village on the Kaligandaki area linking the age-old Trans-Himalayan Salt Trade route to Tibet. From Jomsom onwards it is very windy in the afternoon, the path continues following Kaligandaki downstream with different views of mountains and sandy paths. Two hours of easy walk from Jomsom towards the south-east brings you at Marpha for the overnight stop. This is a little gem with whitewashed houses, paved streets and numerous well kept lodges. Here you will have time to celebrate with the local apple products like cider, brandy, and juice as this area from Kagbeni to Larjung is famous for its delicious apples and products. Visit Marpha village with its Monastery, Apple Brandy factory and around.

Day 16Marpha to Ghasa (2,120m/6,955ft).

Today, the walk is very enjoyable following the Kaligandaki river downstream reaches another charming village at Tukuche, close beneath the Tukuche peak and Dhaulagiri with spectacular views of Mt. Nilgiri’s and the massif icefalls which tumble from the Dhaualgiri’s east face, after an hour walk from Tukuche we continuing trekking down to Kalolpani village for lunch, and this is another lovely village of more than 30 houses with excellent tea houses and lodge with grandeur view of Mt.Annapurna I, Nilgiri’s and Dhaulagiri above the beautiful pine forest. After 2 hrs easy downhill brings you long settled Thakali village for overnight at

Day 17 Ghasa to Tatopani (1,200m/3937ft).

The route dramatically changes the vegetation, from dry, arid desert to pine and conifer forests, as we pass between two giant peaks of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna’s. From Ghasa the southern end of the area dominated by Thakali people with fewer of this ethnic tribe till Tatopani, the architectural styles change, with much ornately carved woodwork in evidence. This pleasant walk amidst the beautiful surroundings continues back to the terraced paddy fields and into warm sub-tropical climate all the way to the village of Tatopani passing through the beautiful waterfalls of Rupse waterfall. We come down through Dana village (the deepest gorge of the world) and after lunch onwards a couple of hours to get to Tatopani for a natural hot spring bath. Explore the local place and overnight at the hotel.

Day 18Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,850m/9,350ft).

After spending a wonderful day at the hot spring we trek down before crossing a suspension bridge over the Kaligandaki river, the path leads by the river for a while just arriving at the junction of the two trails, the other wide path follows the river all the way to Beni. We divert from here taking the left uphill climb, the first of the climb is quite steep to the top, and continue with farms and villages, from this spot a gradual climb leads us most of the day, leaving behind the terraced fields walking in the dense rhododendron forests and reaching at Ghorepani for the overnight at teahouse. This is a great place for mountain scenery and the Kaligandaki valley.

Day 19Pun hill hike and trek to Tadapani (2,710m/8,891ft).

After a briefing yesterday evening, we hike to early morning for 40 minutes up to Pun Hill and en-route offering a glimpse of aurora walking through the pleasant rhododendron forest. Pun hill named after the hill tribe Pun, inhabitants of Ghorepani/Shikha village. This is a wide range of panoramic scenery from the far western Himalaya of Dolpo, Mt. Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna including Mt. Machhapuchre (Fish Tail) and all the way to Manasalu Himalayan range. It is picturesque Himalayan scenery and good memorable moments spending an hour to the top. After a great time return back to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue trek to onward destination, the walk passes through the Rhododendron, Pine and fur forest up and down hills and finally, you will reach Tadapani for an overnight stay at a local teahouse. This is a great place surrounded by rhododendron forest with the closest view of Mt. Fish Tail.

Day 20Dapani to Ghandruk (1,990m/6,529ft).

Today, we have a short and pleasant walking day through the forested path. The trail leads us is on a gradual downhill path most of the way with occasional views of the Mountain. The trail enters an unusual and cool forest of moss-hung oak and rhododendron for an hour to Bhaise-Kharka a small place with a couple of teahouses amidst the woods. A steep descent leads us through the slippery small fast-flowing creeks and streams, after the steep portion the walk gets better on the gradual path most of the way for another hour or more to Ghandrung village for lunch and an overnight stop. This is a heavily settled Gurung village, a modern village of Nepal and here we explore the surrounding area and simply relax at the hotel.

Day 21 - 22Ghandruk to Pokhara (823m/2,700ft).

This is our last day walk after a long trek and immersing yourself to finish quickly this day. Trek leads through the scenic landscapes and local villages to get down to the Syalui Bazaar settled in the riverbank of Modi. Further, an easy path reaches at Birethanthi for lunch, where is the confluence of Modi and Bhurungdi River. After half an hour flat walk will reach Nayapul. Our trek ends here and drives back to Pokhara lakeside for the overnight stop. Remaining time explore the surrounding lakeside area and simply relax at the heart of Lake Town.

Day 22Guided sightseeing in Pokhara Valley.

After your breakfast, we head on for a guided day trip to the Pokhara valley and visit the highlights of Pokhara and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Bindabashini, which one most important popular Hindu temples in Pokhara. Two-hour boating in Phewa lake and visit the Barahi temple which one an island in Phewa lake. After this, we will take you to Davi’s falls. (waterfall) The water comes from Phewa lake from underground and water comes out here and the falls start again going underground. Ghupteshower cave is beside the falls. In this cave, it is possible to go inside and from the last stop, you can see the same Devi’s falls water and you can see where is this water going.
After Davi’s falls and Gupteshower cave, we’ll bring to you a Tibetan refugee camp where the Tibetan people live and do some business. One the way back to the hotel we will show you Pokhara cities around in Mahendrapul which means there is one bridge in the Seti river but we can’t see the water only we can hear the water sound. And this area is a big shopping area for local people. This river is one of the deepest rivers in Nepal. After all of that we will back to the hotel and free.

Day 23Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft).

In the morning we’ll drive back through the scenic countryside and en route will stop for breakfast & lunch. It takes 7 hours back to Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu, the guide will transfer to the hotel and the rest of the day you will relax or explore the surrounding areas overnight at the hotel.

Day 24Leisure at Kathmandu.

This pleasant day you may have a full day to leisure at your own or can be an extended trip with us for an additional cost. Explore Thamel for the last day of shopping and in the evening the company will meet you for the farewell dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 25Departure from Kathmandu.

Today is free or for last-minute shopping for souvenirs or gifts for your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us.
