Ram Bhandari discovered rafting from his home on the banks of the Trishuli River. He moved to Kathmandu from his home village Baireni when he was 15 and began his career from 1996 on the tourist industry.
His one of the Nepal’s most accomplished rafting and trekking guides, as well as safety kayaker and kayak instructor. His outstanding expedition and competition skills has lead him to become one of the leading kayakers in Nepal and his best placed result was 1st place in the Peak Challenge on the Bhote Kosi River 2002.
He has done over 10 to 15 first descents in Nepal and Tibet and was involved in setting up and establishing rafting and kayaking in Tibet having spent 3 seasons there with Wind Horse Adventures from 2003/2005.
He has also been involved in many expeditions and first descents in Nepal including an all-Russian expedition on the Upper Arun Gorges 2001, rafting first descent down the Arun Gorges 2015 and the Yigong Psangpo in Tibet, just to name a few.
He has been involved in teaching outdoor education to groups in Australia and facilitating whitewater expeditions for many different student and adult groups. His skills in sea kayaking have grown and he has led many sea kayak trips in far northern Queensland, lead whitewater rafting trips on the Franklin River in Tasmania and has extensive experience in TAFE and Outdoor Education programs.
Ram is the (CEO) and a managing director of Airborne Adventure Nepal and runs the overall operation. He oversees all the marketing, promotion, liaising with participants who come on trips and develops and implements all the staff training. He is always coming up with great new ideas and new routes for adventure seekers to go and experience Nepal.
Ram is also very passionate about volunteer work and charity work where he is heavily involved in many projects. He founded and set up the Sharmila Foundation and is on the board for this. He has done lots of fundraising for schools in Nepal to help promote awareness especially after massive earthquake in 2015.
Georgia Bhandari discovered kayaking on the Yarra River in Melbourne on an Outdoor Education trip at school.
Georgia has competed in freestyle kayaking since 1999 and was the Australian Freestyle Champion for four years. She has represented Australia and competed in the World Freestyle Championships in New Zealand, Spain, Austria and Australia as well as extreme races in New Zealand, Italy and Tasmania.
She has completed first descents in Nepal and Tibet and has also been a member of the women’s rafting team that won the Australian National Championships.
Georgia has worked in Italy, Norway, Nepal, Tibet, Canada, and America raft guiding, canoe/ kayak guiding, safety kayaking and instructing.
Her passion for travel is infectious. She has done many first descents with the longest being the first all Australian women’s descent of the Yukon River across the country of Alaska 2000 miles in a canoe!
She has undertaken a Bachelor of Arts in Outdoor Education, completed a Certificate IV in workplace training and assessment and a Diploma in Education in P – 12. She has worked in a variety of roles including; teaching Outdoor Education both in school and in the field, Tafe training at Diploma level and coordinating, guiding and facilitating Outdoor Education and Recreation programs in many locations and situations.
She now works part time as a Physical Education Teacher and part time as Marketing Manager for as Managing director as well Airborne Adventure Nepal. Her roles also include liaising with international clients organising paperwork, overseeing AAN staff professional development and first aid training as well as supporting Ram in all his ventures!
He has been with Airborne Adventure Nepal since 2013 and his role at the company is overall operational manager in Nepal. This role requires lots work and energy, where he must run two offices both in Kathmandu and Pokhara as well two boat houses both in Pokhara and Kathmandu. We are very lucky to have such a talented and witty person in this key position.
Anil also enjoys teaching Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boarding that we offer on the Trishuli River, the Seti River as well as flat water sessions in Pokhara on the beautiful Fewa lake. He is a quick learner and has fun on the water, not short with water sport experiences too.
He is an exceptionally talented, likeable young man with excellent English speaking skills both speaking and writing which is a great help to everyone who comes into the office. He will make sure your that he attends to your every need and will provide great service to you.
From the age of 14 years Vera first sat in a kayak and since then she has actively pursued the sport. She is from the flat lands, the Netherlands so drove to the European Alps to find white water rivers and improve her paddling skills. After some time she competed in junior freestyle competitions and continued to develop her skills and now works as a casual kayak instructor for a Dutch company. When not on the water, Vera studies Civil Engineering at Delft University Of Technology. Last year she completed her Bachelor degree and now a Masters is a waiting. Before starting this however she decided to follow her passion and be on the river a lot more to get more experience and have fun.
Joining a trip to the Tamur River in Nepal in 2013 got her very excited about theHimalayan rivers and made her come over to spend 2014’s autumn season in Nepal. Besides safety kayaking on trips and improving her kayak skills on the many rivers in Nepal she is teaching the Whitewater Adventures Nepal new trainees some kayakingskills and she is learning how to guide a raft herself. Vera is a fun and enthusiastic kayaking assistant on Whitewater Adventure Nepal trips this year.
Sangita has been working with Airborne Adventure Nepal since 2012. She has a diploma in in computers and radio technician. Having all this experience Sangita does a very good job to make sure we are on top of everything within our accounting and tax, office and legal paperwork for the company.
Sangita also looks after all our hotel bookings, domestic air ticket booking, international ticketing and many more related areas, which includes liaising with the company director and CEO so all our trips run smoothly.
He is a fantastic all rounder, great in the kitchen, fantastic on the river and always happy for a chat and a laugh. All our clients rave about Rajesh after the trip. He really does go out of his way to ensure that you have the best experience with us on your adventure holiday trip. He gets along well with everyone and his highly respected by his colleagues.
Rajesh is also a SUP board instructor as well so if you ever want to learn stand up paddle boarding then this is the man. He is based out of our office in Pokhara office where you can meet and learn from him on the spectacular Fewa lake.
His very good and patient instructor and is developing his kayaking and guiding skills more and more as he gains more experience. Rajesh has a great attitude toward his job and this shines through in the way he conducts himself both on the river and trekking trips as well as in the office. He always has a smile on his face anything you ask him to do he will be there for the job.
Shiva does a fantastic job doing all the shopping for every trip and ensures top quality food goes out with every group that books with AAN.
He has been with us since the beginning of 2016. He is learning the ropes quickly and is progressing very well within the system and structure of Airborne Adventure Nepal. He is improving with every new challenge that he is faced with.
His job description includes;raft guiding, safety kayaking, gear boating and helping us with all the logistical side off things.
This includes; organisation with Nepalese officials, transportation for trips, buying food for our river and many other small jobs that keep the company running smoothly. Now Shiva is on board the AAN staff he now supports organisation and implementation of the transportation and food shopping.
Through great training, observation and experience, Prem has managed to gain so much knowledge about the tourism industry, whitewater rafting and trekking trips.
He is now our fabulous guide has a very good reputation with our clients making sure everyone is happy and comfortable on all our trips. Over the past few years he has also worked in the office with Sangita as well as on the river and is a very like able and helpful person, who always sports a smile. He has just finished a Hotel Management course at College in Kathmandu and is now full time with AAN. He is doing what he loves kayaking and rafting and looks forward to serving all our clients and their every special need during their holiday adventure with us.
